I’ve created a child theme with several options for the default Twenty Ten theme.

    GPL licensed

    -Simple options panel
    – 6 sidebar layouts – right sidebar(default), left sidebar, left and right sidebars, 2 sidebars left, 2 sidebars right, no sidebars plus an empty css you can create your own sidebar layout.
    – 5 post layouts – default, excerpts with post thumbnail, 2 column with thumbnail, 3 column no sidebar with thumbnail, 1 column wide photoblog style.
    – Post thumbnail support for index and category pages
    – Nivo Slider integrated into the header (your choice to use it or not)
    – Option to disable the header completely
    – Support for wp-pagenavi
    – 3 extra widgets above the post content
    – 9 header images
    – Option for search bar in the menu
    – Option to mark posts as favorite using custom fields
    – Extra WYSIWYG buttons enabled
    – Well commented to make it easy to remove features
    – Compatible with WordPress 3.1

I basically added features I seen people asking how to do but left the styling up to the user. It can be used the same as a regular child theme.
Try the demo here http://test.zeaks.org login with test/demo to try the different layouts.

    Hi Zeaks,

This is really good! I am new to WordPress so still trying to get my head around it….

I am trying to figure out how I can set up multiple pictures in the header section. You seem to have set up a few to rotate on there, is it possible to do this on the current version of Twenty Ten? If so, could please tell me how?

    Thanks a million

Twenty Ten should display the featured image you have set for the post, when viewing the post by default.
I added a slider to mine which displays any featured image from posts in the “featured” category, if none are present it will display the selected header, and featured image as normal when viewing the post.
With the default theme, your image needs to be big enough to display in the header, otherwise it should display when viewing the post.

Just wanted to add that a new version of this has been released today version 1.5, and there’s been alot of new options added.
All slider functions such as transition effects, pause timer, number of images and transition timer can now be controlled from the theme options panel now, the category the slider pulls images from can be selected now as well.

Also added are options for searchbar on/off, header on/off and an area to add Google Analytics code or other code to the footer.

There’s been several other changes and fixes too. Demo has been updated

I’d appreciate any feedback if anyone uses this theme, thanks

    Hey Zeak,

The theme looks awesome, I’ve been toying with the idea of changing the default layout of the posts on my blog.

How complicated is it to get the TwentyTwn posts page looking like the 3 column layout on your demo site?

    Cheers

Each layout uses a different loop, with a bit of css to set the size of the columns. In the theme, it’s just a matter of clicking a button to switch layouts. The loops could be used in your own child theme easy.

If you wanted to create your own, I referred to two sites when creating them, http://digitalraindrops.net/2010/09/two-post-columns/
    and this one http://www.transformationpowertools.com/wordpress/playing-with-columns-stacking-posts-grid-style

Cheers for the links, I started to get it looking the way I wanted and those tutorials helped me finish it off.

Nice work with the Options theme.
