wpsmart: discovered something I had forgot about. When uploading I use –
    Uploading Files
Store uploads in this folder -> htdocs/wp/images (yourwns.com\wp\images)

Not the default of “wp-content/uploads”. This could be the issue with the header logo issue.

SBMongoos, ahh yes, that could be the issue with the header logo. It could just not have permissions to upload to that directory.

    -> WPSmart

How do we correct this issue with the logo? Can you add the option of where to upload files in your plugin?

    The list:

    1) logo will not upload (probably due to default upload directory is changed to custom folder)
    2) color change options are not working except for header and header trim color
    3) text layout – solved – caused by WordPress code on page – corrected
    4) links within the pages not responding on the mobile site
    5) To answer your question in your last email: clarify the header text color issue about #000000 and #777777. What I was saying is your default color was #777777 in your plugin but it’s displaying as #000000 (black). So I think we have a 5th issue where the header text is not correct or my site in your mobile plugin is not displaying any header with text. At the top of each page is a page title or what I call a header. Home on the home page, Web Design at the top of web design page, etc. Maybe we are talking two different things and we don’t have a problem?
    6) At the top of each of my pages just below what I’m calling the header I see “Posted August 25, 2010 10:41pm UTC by sbmongoos“. I understand these are to show if blog posting is enabled which it is not on my site. So “Posted August 25, 2010 10:41pm UTC by sbmongoos” shows at the top of of my pages.
    7) when in preview mode the site does not function properly
    8) if the link at the bottom allows me to switch to View Full Site why isn’t there an option then to switch back to View Mobile Site?
    9) search results only shows party of the page not the part of the page that includes the item searched for. Which is confusing for someone who is new to your site. Ex:search for printer and it loads part of the page IT Solutions but it does not include the part of the page that includes printer. Make sense?

I manually uploaded a file, wns.jpg, to the default directory WP uses but still no header logo.

***I notice when I re-enable and older Mobile plugin the settings are still there. I delete cache in the WP Super Cache but doesn’t have an impact. Just wondering with changing plugins if I have some old files that need to be purged that may be causing problems. Not sure how WP handles this sort of thing.

    Hey SBMongoos,

***I notice when I re-enable and older Mobile plugin the settings are still there. I delete cache in the WP Super Cache but doesn’t have an impact. Just wondering with changing plugins if I have some old files that need to be purged that may be causing problems. Not sure how WP handles this sort of thing.

Yes, the settings are all stored in the database and they don’t get deleted when you uninstall the plugin, incase you accidentally deactivate it, all your changes and settings don’t get wiped out when you re-enable it.

I manually uploaded a file, wns.jpg, to the default directory WP uses but still no header logo.

After poking around your site a bit, I noticed all the images were pointing to /images/[something].png and not the /wp/images/[something].png where the header logo was being uploaded.

I’ll be going through the rest of the list of suggestions/issues shortly and will keep you posted with any updates.

Thanks again for your great input, it’s really appreciated!

    Thread Starter SBMongoos

    (@sbmongoos)

Not a problem. I’ve done this professionally off and on (software/hardware/web sites/testing).

Yes, WP was set to use /wp/images for this site. I did however upload a header image to be used with your plugin to the default WP location of wp/wp-content/uploads. You are pointing to a different location other than default. At least according to what I see in WP 3.6.1 and it’s been that way for quite some time. Maybe I misunderstood. Thought you said your plugin points to the WP default location.

I’ll upload a file to /wp/images to see if this is where your plugin is looking. I’ll have to re-enable your plugin first.

…update. Logo header is not loading in your mobile plugin at /wp/images/WNS-Mobile-header.png. I do see the actual file name now listed in your plugin admin page but it does not show the image below the file name as you mentioned before.

Now seeing the word “undefined” show in the lower left corner on the pages in your plugin.

Another idea. Ability to disable “Proudly Powered by WordPress”. I assume later you may do the same for “Site optimized for mobile devices by WPSmart Mobile” as a purchase option?

    SBMongoos,

There will be a 1.1 version release sometime this week to address a few of these bugs. I’ll give an update on that when it’s ready!

    Thanks,

    Hey fishfinder & SBMongoos,

There’s an updated version of the plugin that I have just pushed up to the repository. Should solve the issues you guys were having (some was related to a bug with the Firefox browser).

SBMongoos here are some notes on the things you posted earlier:

    1) logo will not upload (probably due to default upload directory is changed to custom folder)

If you’re able to view the logo in the browser directly but not in the plugin then it’s a different bug, however if you can’t view it then it must be something with the directory itself (maybe permissions related?). In the new version it shows where your logo files get uploaded too as well.

    2) color change options are not working except for header and header trim color

    See #5

    4) links within the pages not responding on the mobile site

    Should be fixed.

It seems to be a misunderstanding with what the color changes do. The header color is the SITE header, not the header of the individual posts (which aren’t customizable through the admin panel currently). I have added the word “Site” before Header to make that more clear in the Appearance page of the plugin’s admin panel page.

    6) At the top of each of my pages just below what I’m calling the header I see “Posted August 25, 2010 10:41pm UTC by sbmongoos”. I understand these are to show if blog posting is enabled which it is not on my site. So “Posted August 25, 2010 10:41pm UTC by sbmongoos” shows at the top of of my pages.

There is now the ability to turn this off from being displayed, you’ll find it under “Post settings” in the Settings portion of the plugins’ admin page.

    7) when in preview mode the site does not function properly

    Should be fixed now.

    8) if the link at the bottom allows me to switch to View Full Site why isn’t there an option then to switch back to View Mobile Site?

I will keep this in mind in the future, though the plugin currently resets after back to the mobile view after a certain time.

    9) search results only shows party of the page not the part of the page that includes the item searched for. Which is confusing for someone who is new to your site. Ex:search for printer and it loads part of the page IT Solutions but it does not include the part of the page that includes printer. Make sense?

I will keep this in mind for future releases!

Hope this helps you guys, please let me know if you come across any other issues or have any suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Henry

Will need some time to test these out. However, #1, with the logo still does not seem to work. There are files uploaded to this directory which, apparently, your app must create. But the logo still does not load. Is this because it’s a .png image file? Shouldn’t matter. Confused.

Alrighty. I’ve updated the plugin, and most of my issues have been taken care of, THANKS!!

One issue that I’m having now:

I’ve enable google adsense, however, the ad appearing at the top of the screen is partially covered up by the site header.

    How would I fix this?

    Plugin Author WPSmart

    (@wpsmart)

    fishfinder,

Hmmm that’s weird, but I’ll take a look into it and see if there’s a bug and we’ll get it patched up quickly. Thanks for letting me know!

SBMongoos, can you try to loading the image file (the one that gets uploaded) in the browser window? If it loads fine then the problem is with the plugin, however, if it doesn’t load, then it’s an issue with the uploads directory, or some kind of permissions related issue. Being a .png shouldn’t matter so I think we can rule that out as the cause.

    Thread Starter SBMongoos

    (@sbmongoos)

Agree on .png. Should be no impact.

I’ve used your plugin to upload this file and was even told it was successful. I go back with an FTP program and look at your path and I can see files there. Two more image files and a path created by your plugin. A couple of directories I can drill down into to get to these files.

I’m having no issues at all uploading the header image in various formats. Not sure what the problem might be sbmongoos. Have you tried removing everything in regards to the install from the database, manually?
