Troubles installing
-
I have never had so much trouble installing a wp in all my life. It’s been a while though, so it could be my rustiness.
No plugins activated. Just done again this morning.
I have tried installing a different theme, but no images are showing there either. It is almost like some of my folders are not being seen, or something!!
What am I missing?
Thank you Julia

It looks like the WordPress core is running but the styling is not loading correctly.
What happens if you temporarily switch to a default theme such as Twenty Twelve or Twenty Eleven? Do those appear normal?
Hi, thank you for responding. The theme currently in place is the default Twenty Thirteen. It does not appear normal at all.
Also, when I tried to upload images, I can not see them, even though when I put their direct link in the address bar, they appear.
Edited to add: here is what my db looks like:
Have you spoken to your hosts about this? It may be a server issue.
Yes, was on the phone for quite a long time yesterday. It is GoDaddy. We moved the two sites (the other is http://www.okanaganeroticartshow.com) to a sub dir under my main hosting package. It seemed to be fine until I tried to reinstall the backed up database, upload the old wp-content, and then everything went to pot.
I uninstalled, reinstalled, I can’t even count – 4 -5 times? Finally, I came here. I have not yet reinstalled the old db. It would be a shame to lose all that info for both sites. There’s a few years worth of info.
I feel like I am missing a file, or a pointer or something like that. I’ve included the jpg of my current livessence db. Or which file would I find that would do the pointing to the style sheet area?
All right. So I just reinstalled the erotic art show – same problem. The style sheets or such are not being referenced. I really feel this is an easy fix. WHere would I find that?
Is it a permissions problem?
We moved the two sites
Did you follow the instructions in Moving_WordPress?
Hi thank you. We deleted the old two sites, after backing up the wp content and the db. Then started with two fresh installs – the installs were done by GoDaddy’s WP installer.
When I uploaded the old wp-content and tried to connect the db for each one, everything went whacked, so I tried to reinstall through their installer a few times, and then deleted everything again, and went from a fresh install from WP.
The sites weren’t “moved” per se. The domains were under their own hosting package, and now they are under one hosting package, with separate directories.
I have not yet tried to reinstall the db on either of these two, as I wanted to get them working properly first.
Edited to add, here is my file listing for the livessence site:
http://www.livessence.com/file-listing-livessence.jpgIn addition to what you can see there, the three main directories, is license, index.php, readme and .htaccess are also in this directory.
When I uploaded the old wp-content and tried to connect the db for each one
Can you clarify exactly what you did?
Sure – I removed the “new” wp-content from the install, and uploaded the “old” wp-content from the previous site, then reattached the db through the GoDaddy interface. That is all gone, now, as I deleted everything and started from scratch. These are two new installs. No graphics or styling is showing from these two brand new installs.
These two sites as they are now, though, are clean installs, and I am not sure why they aren’t working. The databases I’ve got going for these two are brand new databases. The config file has been adjusted as required in the instructions.
Something is not connecting. I’ve included a jpg of the current db in the post here as well as a file directory for the livessence site.
I feel it has something to do with these two sites listed under my main hosting.
Here is the listing …
my site is
http://www.juliatrops.com – it is the root.livessence and okanaganeroticartshow is a subdir off that root. The domains are pointed to the particular directory … is there any other files that should be in that subdir in order for them to work properly with wordpress?
This is what the wp looks like in my control panel:
then reattached the db through the GoDaddy interface.
What do you mean by “reattached the db”?
Step 4 of this link:
Are these sites still using exactly the same urls? Generally speaking, you should be referring to the [[Moving_WordPress] documentation here.
The domains are the same.
The locations are different as mentioned.
The locations are physically different. They are no longer in the root directory of their own “host”, but in a subdir of “mine” http://www.juliatrops.com.
