  • I am having the same problem with my Twitter player card http://ericyoffie.com/stop-settlements

I got a message from Twitter that it plays correctly on iOS and Android but not on the desktop. I have robot.txt enabled too. How should I modify the settings? Thank you.

    Hi Amy
your site is redirected to http, twitter require your site to be https, if not your card won’t be approved,
So or your site have a ssl certification but it’s redirected to http, or you don’t have a ssl certification installed on your domain, so you will have to contact your hosting provider if you have a ssl installed if not you will have to ask them for it, ( it may cost you it depends on your plan). If you have a ssl you just have to redirect your site https.

Thanks! I will give it a shot!

    Hi
I hade the same problem, the first thing you most do is install a SSL certification on your domain, if there is already installed, you have to redirect it to https.
But may be you have another problem, like in my situation, 1) the photo for the twitter card most be the same iframe size as the video,(in my situation it was different and I got the same email that you got).
If you want an idea how to change iframe, I did it with my wordpress.com website when eddying a photo to a library in WordPress.com there is a scale and you can Chang the iframe size, (WordPress.com is free).
    2) if you are trying to do the twitter card on a youtube video you have to enter the stream URL, if not all meta data will appear in the validater but not the video and it will not be approved.(example of a stream URL if the URL is http://youtu.be/QnFSGfbMWq4 the stream will be https://www.youtube.com/embed/QnFSGfbMWq4).

After all I will recommend you to use Ig:twitter cards” plugin for player cards it’s a little more simple, I’m using it it’s easier, but remember to follow the same ruls,
And also the URL to the photo of the player card most be https.
If you have any problam please tell me, Thanks

I got the SSL. Now, I get the error message: “Unable to render card” on Summary Card with large image, which was white-listed before. I get the same message with the Player card.

I did not understand where to go to edit the iframe. My default image size on JM Twitter cards is: width 280 px and height 150 px.

Also, when I change the URL of the video from:

    to

The embed URL does not get saved when I update the post.

What do you suggest I do? Thank you!

Should be improved. Twitter is not so clear on that point even if the documentation is quite good. I’ll look into it but yes you have to get an SSL certificate and redirect to https anyway.

    Hi
I also hade the same problam it never saved the information I entered, that’s why I’m using the plugin, “Ig twitter cards” until the author will fix the problam.

So just send me the URL to the video and the URL to the photo and the iframe size you want the video should be, and I will send you the information to use.
If you need it for today send me it as soon as posibal because I will not be able to do it on Shabbat
    Thanks

    Hi,

I am able to generate a valid Twitter Card with large image, if the URL starts with: http://
If it starts with https:// I get an error:
ERROR: Fetching the page failed because SSL handshake error.
This makes no sense to me.

The URL to the video is: http://youtu.be/aeYdsNlSK3A
The embed URL and video size are:
    <iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/aeYdsNlSK3A&#8221; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

I appreciate your help with this. When you answer me, could you tell me how you did what you did? Thanks!

    Hi
    1) I don’t know how to work with “jm twitter cards” plugin, that’s why I told you to use “Ig twitter cards” to make player cards, until the author will fix the problem, so go to Ur dashboard plugins > add new and search for a plugin “Ig twitter cards” and install and activate it, but before you have to deactivate “Jm twitter cards”

    2) then your embed code, to embed the video in your site is,
    <iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/aeYdsNlSK3A?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0&#8243; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

Then you will have to enter your twitter username,

And the “video source URL” enter https://youtube.com/embed/aeYdsNlSK3A

And the width and hight enter the same as it’s in the embed code, (in this case it’s width=560 & hight=315)

And then you will have to enter a URL to photo, the URL most be https, and the photo most be the same width and hight size as the video (in this case it’s width=560 & hight=315).

So if you are using a iOS device search in the App Store “image size” in that app you can resize the frame of a photo, so just play the video and tack a screenshot, and resize the screenshot to the good size, and upload it to the media library and copy past the URL, and if you don’t use a iOS you will have to google for a application to do this, but now I created for you a photo, the good size, and You can get it here https://zionistyid.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/image2.jpg?w=596. Just save it and upload it to your library,
The photo should be embedded to the site like this photo, https://zionistyid.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/image2.jpg?w=596

Also it might be, when you will enter the the URL in the validater, you will see “unable to render card preview” just try a few times, and it will work, (I hade this problem but I tried a few times and it worked)

Wow! Thanks. I will give this a try and let you know how it goes.

The one downside is that I cannot use ig twitter cards to make summary page with large photo cards, which I can do with JM Twitter cards. Hopefully, JM Twitter cards will fix the player card or ig will add summary card with large image.

    Hi,

Can you email me the photo you created? My email is amyjyoffie@aol.com.

I downloaded ig twitter cards and followed all of the steps, but I could not get a video screenshot that is the same size as the video, which is 560 x 315. I created one that is 560 x 407. When I try to validate the card, I get the error message: ERROR: Fetching the page failed because SSL handshake error.

    This is incredibly frustrating!

    Thanks!
