Hello,

I really like this plugin, it brings exactly what it should, without any additional functionality, it respects my manifest, and as the description says, it only adds the core, that’s what I need 👍

With this plugin my website passes all PWA checks with Lighthouse for both mobile and desktop, but I found an issue and can’t find the source: when I enable the plugin, I can see the following message under Settings -> General in the HTTPS section:

There was an issue in the request for HTTPS verification.

The site goes through all security checks and is served over HTTPS, so I can’t figure out what the issue is. Could you please point me in the right direction to find the reason?

This error is shown when the manifest can’t be found on the page: https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/pwa-wp/blob/eb261a994eac10a73d16fb5d393965e758ccd4ab/wp-includes/class-wp-https-detection.php#L133-L139

I’m not sure why that is the case for your site, but that’s where the error is coming from.

I suggest looking at the logic in has_proper_manifest to debug why it isn’t able to find the manifest link: https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/pwa-wp/blob/eb261a994eac10a73d16fb5d393965e758ccd4ab/wp-includes/class-wp-https-detection.php#L171-L195

@westonruter thanks! The problem went away and I’m not sure what it was. But it looks like the problem was that I had a different manifest that I wanted to use instead of the one generated by the plugin. Now I only have the plugin manifest.
