subtemplate not recongnize

working w/a responsive theme.
hamdas.
I created a subtemplate. it is in the same dir/folders as the style.css
it is
subTemp.css
And this is the code at the top of the page:

/*
Template Name: subTemp
*/

But when I go to the admin area and look to chose this subtemplate I only get the option of the “default template” and “sitemap template”

Has anyone else run into this? How do you solve it?
