Subdomain for Members

Hello,

I am currently trying to create a Members section to my website. The members section will be almost like another website (which is what I figure using a Sub Domain would come in handy).

The Members site / section will allow the user to go through multiple pages to help them learn different things and educate as well are pre-qualifying them for future business.

The intention for my website is not a Paid Membership, it will be free. My initial idea is this;

The user comes to my website, hits the tab that says “Guidance Program) or “Guidance Membership”) whichever name I choose to go with.

From there, the user will choose to either “Sign In” or “Register”. The Registration will only require certain details “Username, Full Name, Email Address, Phone Number, Password” I may make more requirements but that is currently what I have in mind. If the User is Registering, then it would be ideal to have a drop down created so that when they select Register they can Register right on that Page. Or I can create a separate page where they register, such as a child page, or perhaps just have a registration form right beneath the Log In area. Whichever is will be easier to work with and look better.

Once the User Logs In, they will be directed to the Sub Domain, which will look identical to my website but with these new features. My concern here is whether it will be better for the User to have a Sub Domain specifically for themselves or access to a Sub Domain that every Member will be accessing into.

The premise of the Member Area is to have a Control Panel of sorts when they log in, with a summary of their information. Such as what they have completed thus far, their current area of interest and so on. I think if I am heading into this direction I will probably need the user to have a specific domain for themselves.

Now the content in the Members area will be virtually the same for each Member, the only things that will be different is the information they have inputted to personalize their choices. Because my Members area will have a series of different surveys for the Member.

I apologize for the super long description, but I wanted you to know where I am going with this idea. The main question is, how? How can I do this? Its extremely important for me to get this up and running on my website, but I lack the knowledge to do it on my own right off the bat. I have some Coding Skill, but not enough to be considered a Developer. But I do learn quickly.

So can anyone shine some light on this topic and guide me through what I would need to do?
