Might be problem with your permalinks. try to resolve it through permalinks. Even the scenario of your problem is still unclear. Share with us, probably I could help you out.:-)

my site domain is wahlinc.com but i want to have another subdomain (site) with my main domain’s content, but in chinese. so, i created the subdomain, chinese.wahlinc.com and the add-on domain of wahlinc.com.cn
but now how do i create the same content, but in chinese, on this subdomain?
or am i just simply misunderstanding the concept of a subdomain?

essentially what you are creating is a completely new WordPress site with clean installation of WordPress.
Create it in its own folder and then you should be good to go.
