Stop All Future Popups
-
This is related to my last post, but I felt it needed its own. I am making 11 forms that will go in 11 popups that will be triggered from 11 different menu links. After any of the popups is triggered AND the form is successfully completed, I would like it so that that person never triggers a popup again from any of the menu links.
What is the most efficient way to do this? Do I create a separate Trigger for each popup and then add all 11 to each popup as 11 Cookies?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi @judah75
Thank you for reaching out.
We think the Advanced Targeting Conditions (ATC) Cookies Exists with a Negative Condition setting is what you need for each popup/form submission.
Could you set the same cookie in the trigger and targeting rule on the 11 popups? That means, the ATC – Cookies Exists will check if a specific cookie exists before opening the popup. The popup will display only if the cookie name does not exist on each popups.
Here’s what the trigger and advance targeting rule looks like:

ATC: https://share.getcloudapp.com/nOu9y95YHere’s a demo of what you can do with Cookies Exists with a Negative Condition:

Here is the link to extension page: Advanced Targeting Conditions
I hope that help. Let us know how that goes or if you have any questions.
Hey @judah75,
On second thought. You might not need our ATC extension.
What is the most efficient way to do this? Do I create a separate Trigger for each popup and then add all 11 to each popup as 11 Cookies?
You should be able to let all 11 popups create a cookie with the same name after form submission.
If you use the same cookie name for each popup, then each popup trigger can also check for that same cookie. Does that make sense?
Example:
– Popup 1 creates cookie “menu-popup” after form submission and checks for cookie “menu-popup” before opening.
– Popup 2 creates cookie “menu-popup” after form submission and checks for cookie “menu-popup” before opening.
…
– Popup 11 creates cookie “menu-popup” after form submission and checks for cookie “menu-popup” before opening. Then when any of the 11 open and their form gets submitted, none (1-11) will open again until the “menu-popup” cookie expires or gets deleted.
Apologies that we spoke too soon about needing our Advanced Targeting Conditions (ATC) extension. That’ll work too, of course, and might be a fallback if what I just recommended doesn’t work for some reason.
Give that a try and let us know how that goes 🙂
Cheers!
Hello,
Thank you both for your responses. I set up each of the popups with 1) a Form Submission Trigger that creates the cookie menuPop and 2) a Subscription Form: Successful cookie, menuPop. Each of the popups is attached to a different menu item and is set to go off when that link is clicked. I connected them in the Menus portion of the dashboard by selecting the individual popup in each menu item. The cookies do not seem to be working and the popups keep showing up. Did I connect them wrong?

Hi @judah75
We’re sorry that did not work in the menu.
Did you also create a trigger Form Submission with the same cookie on the 11 popups? Here’s an example of triggers with cookies:

If not, could you give it a try and take these steps as well:
- Clear out any browser, WordPress, server, database, and CDN caches you have.
- Retest using a private or incognito window with no active browser extensions.
We hope that helps. Let us know if this works for you.
If it doesn’t, could you please send us the link page where we check the popups? To send it, please refer to these steps:
1. Go to https://wppopupmaker.com/support/#submit-a-support-ticket
2. Click Other Support
3. Fill in the form
4. Click SUBMITPlease see screen capture:

Adding Click Open and On Popup Close did the trick. Thank you, Bel!
