Square Payment Failed (Status code BAD_REQUEST: INTENT_MISMATCH)

    I have many clients using this integration plugin and all of them have had random failed payments in the past couple of months with no solution, and all with this error code. I hope you can help. Pasting status below.

    I have logs enabled but of course… the payment goes through every time I try a test. But even when I look at logs from days when payments failed, there is nothing unusual, they look exactly the same as on other days.

    Hi there! Which logs were you looking at? With the Square plugin, there are two sets of logs. One set is for syncing inventory between your site and Square, and the other is for payments. The payment log should have this information. You could try using the browser’s “Find” function to search for that error message in the log file, assuming you’re viewing the logs via WooCommerce > Status > Logs in your dashboard.

    I’ve had two orders fail with the same “Square Payment Failed (Status code BAD_REQUEST: INTENT_MISMATCH)” message since April 10, 2020.

    I have the plugin logs for both instances I can share with you.

    There were failed payments with that error message on 4/11 and 4/12. Under WooCommerce> Status> Logs, I am pasting the entirety from 4/11 and 4/12 below. I do not see that error code. However, do logs appear even if the “Log debug messages to the WooCommerce status log” field is not enabled? I am not sure when I enabled that… I do see logs from way back, but I do not see errors in them.

    I just found out from the client that they have had 14 orders failed with that same error code since March 29. In the past, they would only have a failed payment every 6 months. I see other clients of mine and other users here having the same problem.

    Which one should we revert to? Should we switch to a different payment gateway? We will have to make a change somewhere in the next 24 hours. Thank you so much for your help.

    Hi there @czeller and @redrocketindustries,

    I’ve reported the error you’re seeing (BAD_REQUEST: INTENT_MISMATCH) to our developers and they will investigate it further.

    Meanwhile, adding the following code to your site should stop it from happening:

    add_filter( 'wc_square_is_3d_secure_enabled', '__return_false', 0, 1 );

    Please add it to your child theme’s functions.php file. Alternatively, you can use the Code Snippets plugin to do that: https://wordpress.org/plugins/code-snippets/

    Please create a full backup of your site before adding any custom code to your site.

    Update. The snippet you gave me did not stop the failures, several more happened today. It doesn’t look like the new version is available….so I am still in the same situation with failed orders. What am I supposed to do now?
