SQL simultaneously “running” and “deactivate”?

    I am trying to install wordpress locally on Windows XP Pro
    I got XAMPP.
    I chose English.
    I checked Status.
    It said MySQL database “deactivated”

    How can that be when my desktop XAMPP Control Panel says that SQL is running?
