It is not clear to me just what you want. Can you explain some more?
My website trinityfamilymedia.org/wp has as its opening page a long list of posts.
I want to split up the opening page into pages 1,2,3 etc.
I do not know how to do this. I cannot find the opening page in the pages section.

The exact answer may depend on your theme and your settings. Try going to Admin->Settings->Reading and changing ‘Blog pages show at most’ to 1.

Maybe I misunderstood the question.
Do you want different navigation links, or to see only one article on each screen?
