Solved a database search problem
-
I am now implementing the second website using WP All Import, this time for a museum’s archive catalogue. Both applications involve the use of external archives of documents and physical objects related to local history, maintained in a proprietary format, that we wanted to give our website visitors access to. Fortunately the databases can be exported as .xml files, so WP All Import is a brilliant solution to the problem. We use WP All Import to upload all the database records as WP posts, and the ordinary WP search can be used to look for relevant records. We can also use the advanced features to apply further updates to the database – changes, deletions, additions. In one of them we have to link individual records to a separate file of photos – no problem for this plug-in. Amazingly useful! I’ve had some issues with the .xml files themselves, and my requests for help have been answered quickly and have been straight to the point. Brilliant support.
