Slow loading w/ many feeds?

I have a site where I’m using the rss multi importer (template boxes_images).

I want rss feeds from 25 different bloggers, however that resulted in quite a large amount of data which ended up crashing my website and blocking it until I got more memory from my server-provider. And when i finally got it up and running, the loadtime was 18 secs 🙁

My question is now, is there any way to somehow shorten the loadtime? would it be better to use Feed to Post, so that the posts are located and fetched from my server and then make the the boxes show the posts (is that possible)?

yes….but if you want to use the shortcode templates (like the boxes with images) you would need to use the beta version of the plugin, which stores all the feed items in the database (even for the shortcode which it doesn’t do with the current version). Are you interested in trying out the beta version?

if you want to preserve the feeds you have in the prior version, watch this video for how to comment out the uninstall file before deleting the current version (make sure you delete the current version before uploading this one).

I noticed an update in this plugin today. Does it include these changes, or do would I still need to download the file to get them?

I updated the plugin but am still experiencing quite slow load times. My site uses 50 feeds and I plan to increase this number. Do you have any suggestions on how people like me can make the most of this plugin?

if you are using the plugin, then everything comes from the database…if it is slow, then it’s your server that is slow…the only other thing is to use a caching plugin, like super cache.

Would using this plugin have any negative consequences for a news aggregator website? For example, would it cause it to load only old/stale news stored in cache rather than the latest feeds?

it takes in the latest feeds.
