I have three slides and although the photos are all roughly the same dimensions, one of them always appears in a shallower slide – the one with seating in the photo:

I have deleted the photo and uploaded it again but still no joy. I want it to be the same as the other two. Thanks for any help.

  • The images aren’t even close to being the same size. The ones that display how you want are 5177×1290 (my, that’s big!) while the errant image is 5184×500 (big too). If you match all the images’ dimensions they will display identically.

That said, the big one is over 1.5Mb and a few of those will slow your site down plenty.

They look good though. Did you apply any custom CSS to the Slider or to the gap below it?

Incidentally, by my reckoning, your big image size could be reduced to 2006×500 without compromising quality or appearance – but saving lots of bandwidth.

Not sure how you are generating your JPEGs but this is a good online tool which could save even more bandwidth:

(Same site can also generate buttons and favicons.)

oops, sorry, yes they are different sizes but the errant image (with the aircraft interior/seats) is 5184 × 3456, while the others are
    1678 × 1119 (window) and 5177 × 1290 (metal).
I have had so many problems resizing photos in WP and so have others it seems … I tried reducing the first, errant one, to 1500×500 and nothing changes on the slide, the same part of the photo is shown and the slide is truncated top and bottom.
I suppose I need to reduce the photo size/dimensions before uploading it to WP – how do I do this please ?

I found a way of reducing the photo size in Preview ‘Adjust size’ then uploading to WP and that has worked. chappie thank you for leading me in the right direction (photo size was causing truncated slide) !

I would be wary of letting Big Brother scale such large images. Unless the engine has changed since the blog below was published, you lose some image quality and a lot of bandwidth by letting WP crunch such big files — no least because the resizing is apparently done by the browser…which still has to read the original image file before scaling it.

Since the maximum image width recommended for Customizr is 1200px (full-width slider) there isn’t much to be gained by uploading images wider than this. If you really want an image to display optimally at extreme screen resolutions, you might increase the width to 1920px (and accept that it will display sub-optimally when scaled down for smaller viewports); but anything wider than this is just giving the engine unnecessary work to do and also slowing your site down for zero gain.
