as far as looks go you’ve done quite a good job for being new to WP.
a couple of things that I’d think about:
search doesn’t need its own page. you’d be better off putting it in the sidebar, and I might also add in a bit of navigation, but that’s personal preference, and if you don’t want it that’s fine

Thanks, resiny! What sort of navigation do you suggest for the sidebar? I’ll be the first to admit it’s not terribly functional at the moment.
standard stuff- latest posts, feeds, comments, links, archives, stuff like that
the site is great, and the illustrations crack me up!

Loves it! Great idea and great look. And though I like the search function on the front page usually, I LOVE THE SEARCH PAGE. Great illustration. Maybe you could shrink it and put it above the search if you move it to the sidebar?

I’ve added a link to a syndication feed to the sidebar, but I think, even though it’s unusual, I like having search on a separate page. I’d still like to improve navigation, though, so if anyone has any other suggestions, I’m interested. 🙂
