Site speed/comment spam

    My site is taking longer than it should to load. Its been happening for a week or so. Also, I am also getting spam comments for Viagra on some posts. I dont see how this is possible b/c i have disabled comments. I cant actually see the spam comments, wordpress just tells me they are there. How are people leaving spam comments if i have comments disabled? For instance i am told that a trackback comment has been left on this post

    but i dont see anything. is this what could be slowing my site down?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Also bear in mind that most spam bots will access comments.php direvtly.
