• Hello,

    my host recently moved servers and my site went along with them. Here is the message I recieved from them in regard:

    ==========================================================
    We’re happy to inform you that your account, including all content and
    settings, has been moved to a new server cluster. The new server cluster
    has new server names and IP addresses.

    FTP Server Changes
    ==================

    Web Server Names:
    —————–
    Old: web150.hostexcellence.com
    New: web1209.hostexcellence.com

    If you have the old web server name in your FTP settings, you’ll need to
    change it to the new server name. We recommend making this change
    immediately – this way you can test the new setting and save it for
    future use.

    Database Server Changes
    =======================

    If you use MySQL or PostgreSQL database services, please note these
    server names have changed. Please see your control panel for the updated
    values for these settings.

    DNS Changes
    ===========

    puriton-aikido-club.info: old=71.18.186.85 new=50.6.63.212

    killerstickmancomics.com: old=71.18.186.100 new=50.6.63.213

    If you’re using our name servers (listed below) your domains will be
    automatically updated.

    Primary: ns23.hostexcellence.com
    Secondary: ns24.hostexcellence.com

    If you’re using offsite name servers, please take one of the following
    actions for each of your domains:

    a) RECOMMENDED: Change the name servers listed for the domain to those
    listed above.

    b) Update your A records accordingly. You’ll need to contact the
    administrator of the offsite nameserver and supply them with the content
    of this message.

    During the next three days, we’ll forward all requests for the old
    dedicated IP addresses to the new ones. Once this time period has passed
    we’ll reclaim these IP addresses for further account moves.
    Unfortunately, it’s not possible to forward traffic for shared IP
    domains due to there being multiple destinations.

    File Changes
    ============

    To assist with the upgrade, all references to old IP addresses and old
    server names have been replaced in the content of your web site and
    database(s). All files changed have a backup made, with the suffix,
    “.MIGRATION_REPLACEMENT_BACKUP”.

    Because we’ve made changes to your files to ensure that your site
    functions on the new server, we strongly recommend that you make new
    backups of your content. Restoring out-of-date backups could cause your
    web site to become nonfunctional.
    ==============================================================

    I use WordPress for the site: blog.killerstickmancomics.com.

    Since the migration the load process for the front page fails to find the theme (blog header). When logging into the WordPress admin page it doesn’t display graphics/interactive buttons etc.

    I understand this could be a .php issue and you can’t reasonably offer code advice, however I upgraded to the latest version of WordPress using the new web host details and don’t see any intial problems (not an expert but I have upgraded before and the instructions are easy to follow).

    Also, the software I use to publish posts has this message when accessing the database:

    error – with the .xmlrpc.php
    405 method not allowed

    Are there some things I require to change in regard to MYSQL details to WordPress? Are my file allowances restrictive?

    Thank-you for your help.

    – Neil
