Simple Twitter plugin

    I am looking for a simple Twitter plugin similar to Auto Tweet to use on my website http://coolstatuses.com/ . When I installed Auto Tweet it did not work and the developers website returned a dns error.

    The plugin simply needs to extract the first 115 characters of the WP post and post it to my Twitter account. I am using the P2 theme which is designed for short posts, so most will be less than this number of characters. I do not want to have to go into the admin panel to tick boxes, create custom excerpts or fields or repost to Twitter as this defeats the purpose of the plugin.

    Does anyone know of any that will do this. Auto Tweet looked good but will not work with the WP version(latest) and theme I am using.

    What about Twitter Tools by Alex King. I use it and it works great.

    Twitter tools only tweets the title of the post. It works great where this is required, but not in the way that I need for this particular site.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

    I have tried about 10 different plugins today and none work in the way I have described except Auto Tweet, which is not working LOL. Kind of a catch 22 situation for me.

    Any plugin that uses %excerpt% needs to have a custom excerpt written as well, so any that work like that are not an option either.

    My only suggestion is to visit the plugin developer. Lately a lot of plugin developers have not been feeling appreciated. At least from a developer’s end, I understand and have been talking to quite a few WP plugin developers about it.

    Perhaps chip in a donation or just drop a few words to say that you really like the plugin and hope they might update it soon.

    I would visit the developer but his website returns a dns error. I don’t know how else to get in touch with him

    Ok I have had a bit of a look round. Because of the way P2 theme works auto tweet is not working when posts are submitted on the home page of the blog.
    However, it works perfectly when posts are submitted from inside the admin area.
    I suppose now the next question is does anyone from the amazingly fantastic Automattic team who created the P2 theme(or any other amazingly fantastic WP very clever person)know of a workaround that I may be able to use with AutoTweet so that I can post and tweet from the home page the blog rather than having to go into the admin panel.
    Sadly i don’t know how to contact the plugin developer(Joe Fish) as his website no longer appears to exist

    Consider taking a look at TwitMe if you want something to tweet when you post along with a nice, short url to the WordPress post.

    I use it on 4 different sites & recommend it to clients.
