I just edited the sidebar on my blog, saved changes and viewed site. My sidebar is missing from view. When I try to edit it in Theme Editor, sidebar.php shows up as a blank page, yet when I check sidebar.php with a text editor it contains everything it should contain. I am using the classic theme and version 1.5.2

    Any clues?

    Thanks,

    Jim

    Edited to add:

When I FTPed the saved sidebar.php onto my computer to view the file in a text editor, it did not have the changes I had made. I had simply renamed an image, but the old name was written to the file. So, no change was saved. Permissions are set at 666, the same as all of the other files, and those still show up in the Theme Editor.

Also, I tried using a sidebar.php from another install using classic theme, and it too doesn’t display.

I am going to take a guess that some how your “body” has gotten to wide, or possibly the restthisspace image is
doing it? Try reducing the banner size, 728 X 90 is not
    a normal size.

It worked fine until I tried to change that image name in sidebar template.

Anyway, I took that banner out completely just now, and it is still tweaked. No sidebar, and sidebar template refuses to show up in theme editor.

I put the banner back in just now, since that made no difference.

Thanks for looking though. This is weird.

OK, this may be a clue…

I opened sidebar template in theme editor and it was blank. I typed “help me” onto the blank template and saved it. I viewed site and at bottom of page was “Help me”.

I downloaded sidebar.php and opened it in text editor and it still showed the full sidebar.php file.

    Is there voodoo happening here?

    LMAO!

Idle curiosity question: are you positive you’re opening the right “sidebar.php” file, and not one from some other theme folder?

yes, I’m sure. I have only two theme folders. Something is funky on my server. What I did was copy and paste from my text editor to the blank sidebar template in Theme Editor, and it took. Sidebar is back.

But now I have issue with an image not showing, no matter what I do, what I name it, what program I create it with, no matter which FTP client I use to upload it, and even when I host it from another domain of mine. It won’t even show when address is typed into browser.

Someone has been friggin with the riggin. lol
