Sick Install ?

    My host is lunar pages. Have upgraded to WP 2.0 from 1.5

    Not everything is well and have spent some time attempting to sort.

    Believe that in the upgrade process (fantastico) something has come unstuck. Not sure how to trouble shoot to fix. Looking for someone who can help. Happy for this is be on a fees basis.

    Symptoms are that two plugins dont work. Autometa and FeedWordpress.

    Autometa just doesnt insert the meta tags.

    The feedwordpress gives some clues. Have installed the upgraded files which work with WP2. Can setup the feed (and it registers and sees the feed ok) But when I use my browser to go to the update-feeds.php file I get a redirect message with firefox but get to the file directly with IE. For both browsers – when I execute the update feeds script I get a 404 message.

    Redirect message is

    “OK
    The document has moved here.

    Apache/1.3.34 Server at http://www.your-work-at-home.com Port 80″

    I’m guessing there is an issue with mod rewrite.

    Any help very greatfully accepted.

    Craptastico shouldn’t be used for upgrades – why they say it should is just daft.

    Do you have a backup prior to the upgrade ?

    No. But since its my first wordpress blog & theres not much material I’d be happy to blow it all away and start again if required.

    Bit concerned as I’m unsure how to get a completely new setup without reminants of the old program hanging around

    If you have phpmyadmin:
    – drop all the database tables
    – delete all the site files except wp-config.php
    – upload the new stuff
    – run install.

    If you do not have phpmyadmin
    – delete all the site files except wp-config.php
    – download wp-config.php and find this line:
    $table_prefix = 'wp_'
    and change it to
    $table_prefix = 'wp2_'
    save the file and re-upload
    – upload the new files
    – run install

    That help ? If not – ask !

    ok killed all the wordpress files, uploaded latest WP files. reinstalled. Working expect now I can’t login. Getting the following error

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/yourw3/public_html/wp-config.php:33) in /home/yourw3/public_html/wp-login.php on line 9

    Had similar errors through the install phase.

    Can you please advise next step ?

    Have now completely killed all files and reloaded from scratch with Fantastico. Brand new install. Same problem.

    To test to see if its just the plugin causing the trouble I have not loaded the plugin – but just the update-feeds.php.

    Exactly the same error –

    “OK
    The document has moved here.

    Apache/1.3.34 Server at http://www.your-work-at-home.com Port 80″

    When I click on the hyperlink I go to the login screen and the address at the top of my browser reads (Firefox)

    http://your-work-at-home.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fwp-content%2Fupdate-feeds.php

    Any suggestion welcomed.

    Thanks will close this. Believe the prboblem is the mod rewrite bug talked about in other threads.

    Best I regress to 1.5 until the bugs are ironed out of 2.0

    WordPress rocks – I njust need to be a bit more careful with testing before accepting upgrades.
