Shortcodes in articles like plain text

I searched about it in Google but nothing found. My question is — how to type in shortcodes in articles not like shortcodes and as plain text to show readers example of shortcode. For example, on page http://codex.wordpress.org/Shortcode_API we can see shortcodes like text, they not transform to something else.

I tried enter shortcode in <pre> and <code> tags and also type in [ (charackter entity) instead [ but it doesn’t work.
