Share counts lost

One of my clients recently noticed that some of their share counts on blog posts have been wiped out. It’s primarily posts over a year old, but we cannot find any consistent pattern on the ones affected. But some of these posts had dozens of shares and across the board (FB, Twitter, G+) are back to 0.
Initially I thought it had to do with a recent WP or AddThis version update but they have advised me that they have not done those two updates yet.
Has anybody else experienced this recently or in the past?
