Setup Redirects to root | WordPress.org

I’m installing WordPress in a sub-directory. I had to go through and change permissions before I could even get to the setup screen. Now that I finally have, when I put in my database credentials and click “submit” it redirects me back to my root folder (which is my live site), not the next step of installation.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

Are you installing WordPress manually or using an installer provided by your hosts?

It’s actually the first install of WordPress at this instance. The live site is using a different CMS that I’m wanting to get away from eventually.

If you plan to switch to WordPress anyway, why not install WP on a subdomain?

Try this maybe?

Edit wp-config.php
It is possible to set the site URL manually in the wp-config.php file.

Add these two lines to your wp-config.php, where “example.com” is the correct location of your site.

define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://example.com’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://example.com’);
