Hi – sorry for the slow reply – I tried all of these things even reinstalling and switching to Twenty Fourteen and nothing seemed to work. I really don’t know what to do next but I’ll look at it again monad when I have more time.
Are any other things broken, or just the ability to set the Publish date?
@james – there are many things that are broken now:
– publish date
– SEO box is compromised – no places to fill in info
– can’t imbed a link
– can’t add media
– can’t add tags
– can’t change status
– can’t change visibility
and so on – WP just isn’t working properly. My old posts show up fine and have not gone weird, but I can’t create new posts easily any more
Ok, try deactivating all plugins one more time. Please make sure that it’s all plugins, even the SEO one. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
If that doesn’t work, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
If neither of those worked out, please review https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-40-master-list and see if you match any of the situations listed there.
Thanks – I deactivated everything again and it seems to be okay now. I will do as you suggested and add them back one at a time and see how it goes. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I really appreciate your help and patience! 🙂 Take care, Martina
