Set Featured Image Loader is too slow

Since the recent changes to the media uploader, I have found that it runs much slower and it takes me much longer to add images to my posts. Not only that, but when I simply want to set a featured image for a post thumbnail by choosing from the thumbnails in my existing media library, the media loader dialogue box takes a long time to preview my images and even longer when I want to search for a particular image within the library.
The updates to the look and functioning of the media uploader are very nice, but with them has come so much delay that the advancements feel more like a nuisance than a development.
I have worked with this function on many different internet connections in many different countries and had the same results, so it is not simply a local issue.
I greatly appreciate all the effort and time the developers are putting into the WordPress engine, and my humble suggestion to them is to consider the speed at which tools like the media uploader can be used to be a critical feature of the design. The faster it runs the better.
