If anyone can help me I would be so grateful. I am trying to learn as I go with WordPress. I have inherited a site that the previous manager here paid to get done. Now they need changes I am trying to do them. I installed SEO Yoast which was successful and I went through each page entering the info I needed to. However it prompted me to change the permalinks! I did as I didn’t think it would ask me to do something that made my site stop working 🙁
Now all my pages with the exception ogf the home page are saying: 404 Not Found
The requested document was not found on this server.
    Web Server at simplycounselling.org

I have no idea what I have done and most importantly no idea how to put it right. Please could someone help?
I have very limited knowledge 🙁

    Thanks

  • I would deactivate that plugin, first off and I took a look and it seems that all the pages are fine unless you haven’t changed them yet.

here is a helpful link also for permalinks!

Thank you jdc20181 I worked on it all day and eventually solved it. You must have viewed it after it was fixed. However I am now stuck with the default random letters and numbers in the URL for my pages which is not good for SEO apparently. Any idea how to get around this issue?
    Thanks
Oh and by the way, I can’t see a link. You mentioned one though.

sorry not sure why it didnt show up codex.wordpress.org/permalinks

you can mark this resolved by checking the box at the bottom of this post (you or a mod can only do this) I will put a resolved tag too
