I am VERY new to the WordPress way of life so I hope I can relay what it is I am trying to do to see if it is even possible.

I currently have redirected all Posts to a static page so that there is a link created in the template for the public to see on a site. This works fine and dandy, but now I want to take it a step further.

Is it possible to have a separate static page for each post category so I can split up the posts into specific topics.

ex. Say I have Post Categories of “Tutorials” and “Courses.” I would like to separate these categories into two Static Pages. What I would like to see is a static page called Tutorials and all I see are the Posts that are in the Tutorials Category and likewise for Courses.

I hope that this makes sense and is possible to do. Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.

  • What do you mean by static? As in it will never, ever change once you make it? Or do you mean the URI won’t change? In other words, do you want a permanent link to all of your Tutorials?

In your site make a post with that category. Click on that category’s hotlinked name. The URI that is generated is what I think you’re looking for. It’s not a Page-big P but it is a page small-p.

For example http://www.jamiegorton.com/wp/?cat=32 posts to everything with the category “TLDB” on my site.

Thanks for the fast reply. Perhaps I am doing this way way wrong. Up where my Home, About Us, Contact Us links I want a clickable link called Tutorials and when I click it all I see are the posts written in the Tutorials category.

I see what you are telling me but I am not sure that is what I am looking for.

    I see much clearer now.

If I had to guess the easiest way to do that, I’d say “Use the Categories widget pinned to the top of your theme sidebar.”

I will give that a try. Thanks for the tip.

Jhgorton I would like to thank you for your assistance and what you suggested did not help in what I was looking to do…but I did find a solution that was very easy and did exactly what I needed with a bit of work.

Here is a LINK to that thread
