    SEO can be an ongoing process, but what I want to know is what steps should I take before one launches the wordpress, and it can be really to take care of once the site is already up and running.

    For example, permalinks should be taken care of beforehand I think…

    what other SEO (or otherwise) things can you people think of?

    1. write good content and a lot of it.
    2. get links from other sites with like content.
    3. be sure to make proper use of headings <h1>, <h2>, etc and paragraphs.
    4. Make sure to click the Make my blog public link on the install screen.
    5. Get more links from sites like yours.

    participate in a lot of forums on the same niche as your blog
    join blogcarnivals and submit your articles
    join blog directories
    make good and interesting comments on top blogs within your niche

    This is what I do to increase traffic on my blog

    hmm, the things you people are speaking of come into play AFTER the site is launched…

    I was wondering if one should be careful about anything before the site is up and running …

    MarkRH, is that pack compatible with wordpress 2.7?

    I just checked, they said it’s compatible with 2.7
