SEARCH TOGGLE stay open?

I have another work in progress site that is twenty thirteen http://0369370.netsolhost.com/Bluemont1/

where I was able to “keep the toggle open”, but since the current site I’m working on

http://www.blueridge-mountain.org

is fourteen, it uses a drop down function instead. I was wondering if there was a way to add a static open search box in the header menu.
