• Hello.

Is there functionality within this plugin (free OR premium) that allows for search filters?

For example, my client wants to have the following: Filter for search with a drop down menu to filter for: posts, video, podcasts, a – z, newest – oldest.

Is this possible with this plugin? If not, is there an additional plugin that works with Relevanssi for this functionality?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Relevanssi, free and Premium, supports all sorts of filters but does not provide a lot of tools for creating the user interface for the filters. The Relevanssi search form shortcode has support for some dropdown filters, and adding sorting parameters to the search form is fairly easy.

If you want easier tools for this, I would recommend looking into FacetWP or Search & Filter, those are the best tools for this and both work with Relevanssi.

    Hi, Mikko.

I was going to try the Search & Filter plugin because, while minimal, I do have a little experience with it. The problem is I am not sure how this is supposed to work with Relevanssi, as it looks like they want me to replace the Relevanssi shortcode with the shortcode for S&F.

Please advise on how these two plugins are supposed to work together?

    Thanks!

You’ll use the Search & Filter shortcodes. There’s a setting in Search & Filter that will make S&F use Relevanssi to perform the searches, enable that and you’ll be fine.

Also, you don’t need the Relevanssi shortcode to use Relevanssi: Relevanssi will take over all searches on your site, shortcode or not.

    Mikko,

Part of the problem is I took over maintenance on this site after a different developer built it.

The client has a ton of issues happening with searches not showing the correct order as well as not showing ALL of the posts that should be in the results. I also can’t seem to figure out how to get a filter in place with search & filter (client wants all of these included in filter: pdf, video, podcast, a-z, newest/oldest).

If my client agreed to purchase the PREMIUM version of Revelanssi, can you help with all of the problems I described above (including helping with the filter issue)?

If not, do you know of any other very robust search plugins that already has a filter included in their plugin?

    Thank you!!

For other search products, I’d look at Algolia. It’s fast and has lots of tools built-in. The pricing looks fairly cheap, but of course if you have lots of traffic, it gets expensive.

If you buy Relevanssi Premium, I can help with setting up things. However, Search & Filter Pro is someone else’s product, and I can’t help with that other than the very basics. You should have a Search & Filter Pro license and access to their support, though, and they should be able to help with that.
