• Hi, I am using Mailpoet for a particular newsletter out of WordPress. Has been working fine with scheduling for the past couple of months. Now it goes out whenever it wants to, usually about 18 hours later. Any suggestions why? And yes, I’ve checked all the settings for timezone to see if anything accidentally reset itself. Nothing has changed. SO frustrating!!! Thank you

  • Looks like you have a problem with your MailPoet Cron (the task scheduler). Please read this: https://support.mailpoet.com/knowledgebase/understanding-the-cron/

Thanks so much but this does not explain why Mailpoet is sending the newsletter out up to a day later (usually 18 hours!!!!!)

Oh, and to clarify, for the last 3 weeks it’s been fine. Nothing at all has changed. SO frustrating!!!! Thank you!

Ultradc, the delay is usually related to the lack of visitors on your site. From the article linked above:

“Each time a page on your website gets visited, WordPress calls the WP-Cron function, which will look for scheduled jobs that should run. If one is found, WP-Cron sends an HTTP request to yourdomain.com/wp-cron.php to execute the tasks scheduled. In MailPoet’s case, this task is to send your next batch of newsletters.”

There are 2 options to solve this issue:

    1. Set up a cron job on your server. See shared article above.

    2. Our Premium version offers a cron service automatically without any set up on your part.
