Every time I try to scan my WordPress site the process stops after a few seconds, with only Server State and File Changes ticked, and I receive the message:

    Scan Failed
The previous scan has failed. Some sites may need adjustments to run scans reliably. Click here for steps you can try.

[JUL 27 12:30:57] Scan terminated with error: Unable to query database

When I check the Scan Troubleshooting page on Wordfence, my exact error message / issue doesn’t seem to be there.

Hello @urbanheather and thanks for reaching out to us!

It sounds like Wordfence is being denied access to the database.

Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    Thanks again!

    Hi @wfadam,

I’m just wondering if there’s any progress with this? I haven’t heard anything at all since I sent the email report 5 days ago.

    Thanks

Sorry @urbanheather I was out on vacation and was not able to get to this.

The diagnostic looks good and it looks like Wordfence has access to the database.

If you could do the following steps for me:

    • Go to the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page
    • In the “Debugging Options” section check the circle “Enable debugging mode”
    • Click to “Save Changes”.
    • CANCEL any current scan and start a NEW scan
    • Copy the last 20 lines from the Log (click the “Show Log” link) or so of the activity log once the scan finishes and paste them in this post.

This will help me see exactly what is happening when the scan fails.

    Thanks!
