Due to lack of development knowledge I have the following problems and one aim.

I want to create/design a website on wordpress.org for a small bussiness. The site will then be ‘taken over’ by a host server. In other words I just need to create the actual site.

    Problems are:
    I Downloaded WordPress. Fine.
    2. Installing it according to your instructions made my life very difficult.
    3. I get to the point where I can use the dashboard, etc.
    4. I can change whatever I want – it doesnt save and I cant seem to log back in to localhost:XXXXX to finish it.
    5. Everytime I try, I get to-re-install wordpress’s last bit over and over again.

I am not a developer, simply wanted to use this to create the site and then be taken over to my host provider which will obviously change the site to a .com domain.

Why cant I just setup the site and be able to access it?

In my endeavours to do such, I have installed File Zilla, File Server, etc etc and came across so many ‘things’.

Can someone please explain to me what I actually need to do. All I want is to save my website with my theme and info which will not be for public view now.

Im am at my wits end at re-installing and trying to do self-hosting, MySql, FTP etc. for this. Is this even possible?

To help making the install of it locally easier, try looking into ServerPress. With that installed, it updates the files that need to be updated.

    Hi J36miles

Thank you for replying. I truely am new at MySql and blah. Didnt event know of the existance thereof. Im not trained to do this and not ashamed of saying I do not have the know how.

According to my logic, it should be simple and relatively easy. I ‘created’ my own site a couple of years ago an wp.com and because it was private it didnt matter to have a host. Also I did it using a cellphone. Yeah.

I was under the impression that org will be the same. It isnt. I saw and read so many forums and am extremely confused about hostnames, url’s files upoloading to roots, etc.

I just want to be able to access the site and be done with it. No ip address issues, no ftp, no servers, no nothing of that. Im a going to use this foronly a couple of days. The rest should be the Developer’s prob to get the site live, etc.

I wlll try your suggestion and then I am giving up. I will post the outcome. Thank you.
