• I just installed a WordPress site and wanted to set up an RSS feed using the standard RSS widget that comes with Twenty Eleven. The feed seems to word okay (though I wish I could get rid of the bullet), but there’s a weird “[…]” at the end of the text. What is that and how can I remove it? (I also run the site that the feed is coming from so I can control both ends.) Thanks for any help you can give me! (P.S. – I’m an idiot so please speak slowly and assume I know nothing 🙂

RSS feed is in the sidebar at the bottom

  • The “[…]” is the read more tag or created when the excerpt is used.

Adjust the RSS output Admin Dashboard>Settings>Reading>adjust ‘For each article in a feed, show’ to ‘Full’>Save.

For the site receiving the RSS Feed, review how it is handled, if with a widget, review those settings, with a theme, those, a plugin, those.

Thanks very much for your help. I have made sure of the settings but the “read more” tag is still there. Do you have any other ideas? I’m not skilled enough to go into the code so I’m hoping there’s something else that’s easy to do to fix it! Many thanks!

That is browser specific. FF will show excerpts only. IE will show full. Chrome doesn’t have a reader.

Thanks, but I checked in the different browsers and it’s in all of them. Hmm…

In IE 9, http://eichlerclub.com/feed shows the full post. In FF 12, http://eichlerclub.com/feed shows an excerpt.
