RSS Feed Import (upload size limit problem)

Hey there,

I want to run the rss2 feed import, although my file to upload is 2.5 mb, which is too large to upload (aparently php.ini has set the limit), which my host would have to change.
After the upload it just get stored in wp-content/upload, can I not simple upload this file via ftp and post the importer to it?

Any ideas?! help would be great!
