  • I’m having the exact same problem:
    http://mennodeals.com
    http://mennodeals.com/feed/

I am having the same problems as the two users above on my feed when using Chrome. It seems to work fine in Firefox and Internet Explorer, but I gave already received over a dozen emails from people trying to access the feed using Chrome. My site and feed are:

    http://www.socialmediagel.com
    http://www.socialmediagel.com/feed

I have two other sites that work fine and I can’t figure out what went wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried some plugins but same issue. HELP!

It appears it’s a generic Chrome problem (that happens with all RSS feeds) rather than a WordPress problem; basically Chrome doesn’t have native RSS feed handling, you need to use a plugin. Since I use Google Reader, I love Chrome Reader. In fact, since I use the Chrome Reader plugin, I didn’t even notice the RSS issue and a reader pointed it out.

I found out the same thing hansmat pointed out.

So, I tried a work around that worked for me.

I just set up a feedburner account and use the feedburner link for my RSS feed link. Of course, anyone who “outsmarts” themselves and knows enough to just type in myurl/feed will get the gobblygook we all seem to have experienced. If they click on your RSS feed that redirects to Feedburner (I would imagine other feed sites would work as well, I only tried Feedburner because it solved the problem) they will see the feed just fine.

I hope this helps, as I was FRUSTRATED as heck trying to fix this last night.

What about the safari issue? It lists the posts and does not let you add to a reader.

I tried the feedburner trick and had the same issue.

I don’t have/use Safari, so I have no idea how to help with that issue. I may download Safari though, and if I do I may will probably try to troubleshoot the issue.

I manage several websites, although I’m not really a developer, so I guess I should do what I can to make sure Safari users can view my sites. I only just now realized Safari has a PC version. I thought it was only for Apple users.

May I ask all your opinions on the advantages of Safari? My Google Analytics tell me that very few of my site visitors use Safari to view any of my sites, but you never know where your most influential visitors may come from.

I really hated it at first, but I use a small laptop Safari feel slim and it is FAST but has no home page button, and terrible form fill functioning, both very annoying. I liked Foxmarks in Fireforx but it takes WAY to long to open

Feedburner worked in my Follow Me plugin on Chrome but not in one of the Share plugins
