No, it doesn’t–or at least, not for pages. It adds dates and months for posts, because they are date-based and to prevent errors if you give two or more posts the same name.
With pages, it will rename them from
http://yoursite.com/?page_id=5
to
http://yoursite.com/page-slug/

And you don’t have to choose either of the default pretty permalinks, you can make one yourself. I use post_id/postname and pages get no ids in the url.
