@thesmartseries Thanks for sending through this query – it is something that will be relevant to others who see their review count doesn’t match the total in Google.
Have you checked the data received in the Retrieved Data tab? This will take precedence over the actual count of the reviews stored on your website.
The matter generally of which data source to use is not clear cut – if someone has not imported all the reviews, this total will be lower than the actual overall count, so I’ve decided to refer to the data sent by the Places API.
I am happy to reconsider this in an upcoming version, perhaps with a conditional statement: which overall review count is higher?
Hi @designextreme,
Thanks so much for replying. I have actually imported all google reviews over (amounting to 206 reviews). I can see all 206 reviews in the “Reviews” tab, but I noted that it is still showing 144 reviews under the “Retrieved Data”.
Is it possible to have the “Retrieved Data” updated or this is not something which is not possible in the current version?
Thank you.
@thesmartseries It’s not something that’s possible with the current version.
This incorrect total review count is something that I haven’t encountered before and I’ll need check how prolific this is before applying new code to circumvent this.
I would rather have the Place API data used because the HTML Import could be partial or even contain duplicate entries (this can happen when the author is disabled or removed). Also tracking the addition of new reviews could mean a mismatch in the total.
Firstly, I’ll check with you Place ID and try to find out why yours is not accurate.
@thesmartseries I have done some testing and when I use the Place ID: ChIJwTn4gO0T2jERfzhbkBGkchQ, it retrieves the correct total and displays the same total of 210 reviews.
Please double check the Shortcode you’re using in the page. I’ve noticed that having either different place_id or link parameter can cause unexpected results. As a rule, keep this unset unless you specifically want to choose between multiple places. If there is a Place ID that doesn’t exist in your collection, it will revert to the default place.
