Removing & Updating plugins

    I have 11 plugin that need to be updated and ALL of them fail when I try to do the updates. Do I have to uninstall the old version and reinstall?

    Also, I have some plugins I do not use, and they will not uninstall, this is aggravating. How do I dump these?
