How can I remove the date from showing for my posts?

This is really a question of “How do I modify my theme?”
If you are using the WordPress Default 1.6 theme you would delete the line below from the wp-content/themes/default/index.php file
<small><?php the_time('F jS, Y') ?> <!-- by <?php the_author() ?> --></small>
