Remove 'category' from URL? | WordPress.org

Hi,

Is there any way I can remove ‘category’ from the post categories.

I mean, instead of http://www.example.com/category/cars I want it to say http://www.example.com/cars ?

Add this above the WordPress rewrite rules in .htaccess.
```
RewriteRule ^category/(.+)$ http://www.yourblog.com/$1 [R=301,L]
```

It may sound like a newbeginner-question (which I am), but I don’t know where to find .htcaccess. I have bought a theme, that I use?

Can you help me out?

You need to use an FTP client or your host provided file management tool(s). .htaccess is ‘hidden’, so you will need to show hidden files.

Make sure to keep an unedited copy of any file to be modified.
