Are cookies disabled?
You’d think cookies would bork on posting blog posts too though….
Try the default theme? Also, what plugins are you running?
Something’s borked on the server side, definitely.
I am running Calotropis and don’t want to switch themes at the moment. I switched the site folders to the root to enable multi-site and it’s messed up all my write-permissions on the upload folder so I want to keep it simple for now.
By the way – I’m not super technical so I googled “borking” and wished I hadn’t. Not sure what you meant by borking ipstenu and Andrea_r – but my web server is DEFINITELY not doing what google said!
bork is an intentional typo of broke (or a Swedish Chef from Muppets moment, or a snide comment about Robert Bork, depending on your POV). NOT the Urban Dictionary definition!

You should be able to reset permissions with a decent FTP client but … Now that you said you MOVED the files, I think I have a solution.
Generate new salts. Go to http://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/wpmu/salt and put those into your wp-config, REPLACING the ones you have. This will have the end result of you needing to log back in (and some people may have to delete cookies), but try that.
On the plus side, it won’t break anything to try! 🙂

Just a way for me to say messed up somewhere. 😉

I am running WordPress 3.0 and have just upgraded to multisite. (I can’t get the 2nd site set-up but that’s another issue.)
My registered users cannot post comments. They can log in and create posts but when they switch back to the site to post a comment it asks them to log in.
This also means that when I view the site when I am logged in it then says “log in” on the meta rather than “site admin”.
I have now changed it to be anyone can post a comment but this is not ideal for a school website!
Any ideas?
