Stripe currently supports refunds only in cents ,
However “refund is transferred to Stripe, ” means it was refunded ?
If the page loads indefinitely it could be some other problem.
As i just checked and it seems to work fine with twentysixteen theme and woocommerce 2.6

Sorry, I meant “refund is NOT
transferred to Stripe”, i.e. is does NOT get refunded in Stripe.

When I do refresh the page, wordpress shows the order as refunded, but the refund does not happen in Stripe.

there is some error while creating refund on your server thats why error 500 is caused while hitting admin-ajax.php

ask them error log like apache log that will help else communicate to your developer he can figure it out
