I installed and activated the redirection plugin.

I went to the redirection page and entered the from and to URLS

I clicked to redirect and nothing happened. I tried a few times

Now when I try to go to the plugins page to remove and re-install this plugin, I cannot open the plugins page — instead I am taken to:
    …/wp-admin/admin.php?page=irrp-redirection
    — which shows a message saying ‘This page isn’t working [URL] redirected you too many times’

So I can’t access the plugins page at all, I get sent to this page every time I click on ‘Plugins -> Installed plugins’ in the WordPress dashboard.

I have deleted cookies and rebooted my (Windows) laptop, but the problem remains.

How do I clear this error and get access to my ‘Installed plugins’ page?

    Hello @rdh001 ,

You can use a tool such as (S)FTP or File Manager plugin to delete the Redirection plugin directory located usually in /wp-content/plugins/redirect-redirection – this will remove the plugin and all redirections set by it.

Can you please let us know:

    1. If you use any other plugin or a tool (which one?) that is setting up redirections on your website, including wp-admin page(s)?
    2. What exact Specific Redirection have you added in our plugin before you encountered this error?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hi,

I cleared the hosting cache and was then able to access the plugins page. I deleted your plugin and replaced it with another. I’ve had no issues since.

To answer your questions, I had no other redirection plugin at the time of the problem. The redirect I tried to set up was a simple 301, where I had to change a URL slug. I was just looking to redirect from the URL with the original slug, to the URL with the new slug.

“I cleared the hosting cache and was then able to access the plugins page.” – if the issue was related with our plugin, clearing cache would not resolve the issue.

The rule you described is also a general one, which doesn’t create problems on other sites. We would appreciate all details about the redirection rule so we can replicate it on a test site and determine the issue.

    Kind regards
