• I am a WordPress newbie and my blog is hosted by godaddy.com. I have tried a LOT of different techniques to redirect my domain address (theconnectionag.org) to my blog subdirectory (theconnectionag.org/home) only to lose access to my WordPress Dashboard and the blog itself. After panicking and cleaning up the mess caused by these failed attempts several times, I’m pretty darn frustrated. ;o) So, my questions are as follows:

    1. Is it possible to redirect a domain to a subdirectory?
    2. If so, how long should I wait to see the changes take place?
    3. Afterward, will I still be able to access my WordPress Dashboard in my domain once I’ve redirected the domain to the subdirectory?

I suspect perhaps I’m not waiting long enough for the changes to take effect…but I’d like to know for sure. I’d REALLY appreciate any help or suggestions! Thank you!!!

  • Changes should take affect immediately. Check out this document, as it will tell you how to do what you’re trying to do:

Thanks for trying to help! Before I received your response, I decided to go with a 301 redirect, which worked great and was very easy. Are there any drawbacks to using this method that I may be unaware of?

I’m wondering why, with this being such a simple alternative, more people haven’t suggested it as a solution…
