Is it possible to redirect a WP “Page” link to another URL?

I.E. I want to use WP 1.5’s pages feature to setup my site structure and maintain content. Is there a way to point my “Calendar” link to an iCal calender on .Mac?

My thought was to add some php to my header file that checks the URI and sends the user to the calendar if that link is selected. But if I want to add more links then I have to edit the header.php file in addition to setting up the page in WP.

i think I found a plugin that will do the trick CG-Redirect <http://www.chait.net/index.php?p=310>. I will test it out in the morning but it looks like it is just what I need.

Try http://redalt.com/downloads/ It has a nifty redirector plugin.

You could also add this (all on one line) to your .htaccess file:

Redirect permanent /thatpage/ http://www.example.com/thispage/

The above line will issue a permanent redirect from you yourblog.com/thatpage/ to example.com/thispage/ .

MacManx solution is faster and better with one small potential caveat.

If your old blog uses query strings in url this solution will not pass on the query strings to your new blog. You will then have to use mod_rewrite or regular expression based redirects.

In fact the redirector plugin I pointed before does a 302 instead of 301. So I use a custom plugin which does a 301 (permanent redirect).

thanks for the help guys. i was looking for a plugin solution due to the fact the install is for someone else who, when they want to change or add links, would not know how to ssh into the server and edit the .htaccess file. i’d like to make this as user friendly as possible.

Redirector is awesome! I tried CG-Redirect and Redirectify and got error pages, but redirector worked like a charm. Thanks so much!
