Recovering a lost post

    I am a wordpress neophyte so please forgive me if the question I am asking has an incredibly obvious answer. When working on a post today, I tried to save a draft and lost everything. It came up with an “are you sure you want to do this” page, which it has done before, but this time when I confirmed I was redirected back to the new post page and all my work was gone. In the past my browser has saved a backup, but I don’t know how to access this. Any help would be very appreciated, thank you so much!

    edit: I have been doing some research, and it would appear that in the past people have solved similar problems with the ‘revisions’ tab under screen options. They are all several years old, though, and I no longer see revisions as an option.

    Revisions is still an option in WP. It’s on your post screen.

    When you go back to edit the post, it should pop up and tell you that the browser has a backup.

    Had you saved anything beforehand?

    I ended up just rewriting the article, but thank you so much for getting back to me!

    For anyone who is looking this up in the future (I know I went through every forum page that looked even remotely like the problem I was having), I had saved a few times before it erased the post, but when I finally was able to find an older version in the drafts section, it had only about 150 words of the original 1500 word article. There was never a pop-up saying that my browser had a backup, and I was never able to find what happened to the original. The revisions option only appeared later, after I had saved my progress on the new version, and had only two options: the version I had just saved, and the original 150 words it had recovered.

    Thanks again, and from now on I’ll be backing up my posts in an offline document!

    My post just disappeared! It is entitled “GPON to the resucue. Take Notes”

    I was updating WP and I don’t know what else to do to recover it.
