• Hi,

I have been looking at frameworks available for WordPress so as to work on responsive designs. Zeroed in on twitter bootstrap, and wp-foundation (this is currently based on zurb foundation 3.0….an older version). Also, REACTOR is a theme that I have bumped into. Its based on Zurb foundation 4.

My websites for WordPress are currently brochures sites.

    a. Recently my clients have started demanding responsive site design and I would like to have some recommendations about the direction that I should be taking.

    b. Are there limitation / restrictions in using plugins when using frameworks?.

    Thanks.

  • Have you tried using any of the responsive themes?

As far as use of plugins is concerned, there is actually no restriction on the number of plugins used – but using too many plugins can sometimes affect your site performance as they may use up too much resources at the server.

Frameworks use a certain jquery library or javascript libraries (if I am correct) and does this automatically limit the usage of plugins that maybe using other jquery libraries?

In fact, it depends on the framework that you are using – in the sense that if the theme is already using the functionality done with plugins. For example, functions of SEO plugins that are built into themes. I myself use Genesis for two of my sites and free WordPress themes for others. I personally believe in using simple responsive themes and to supplement them for additional functionality with plugins though I do not use too many plugins.
