Recent Posts on non WP page

My wordpress blog lies in the /blogs directory.

I want to display the most recent posts in the main directory (outside /blogs), on my index.php page. They are of course on the same server.

I found some old documents, but no sound solution by searching the site. I would like to not only list the most recent post titles & link, but also the summary, date, categories, tags, and comments. You can see my main blog page with recent posts here: http://www.azfans.com/blogs/

Anyway that I can get all or most of that information under “Recent Blog Posts” (maybe the latest 10 stories?) on a page outside the /blogs directory?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
